About the Emergency Medicine
The Emergency Department (ED) at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia cares for more than 100,000 patients a year. Attending physicians and nurses who are specially trained in emergency medicine are in the ED 24 hours a day to handle emergencies, unscheduled visits and consultations that need immediate attention.
We offer on-site radiology and can provide conscious sedation for potentially painful procedures. The ED at our Main Hospital in Philadelphia was the first Level 1 Trauma Center for children in the Delaware Valley and is home to the Poison Control Center. Parents Magazine ranks our division number one in the nation for emergency medical care.
