Volunteer Opportunities
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is a place where medical miracles happen almost daily. We are a place where leading-edge research is translated into extraordinary care brought to the bedsides of thousands of sick children. We're an extensive network of primary and specialty care, inpatient and outpatient services extending throughout the community. We're also a place where healing can come, not only by medical and surgical intervention, but by the touch of a hand, a shared smile or a knowing 
wink. We're a place where volunteers make a difference in the lives of children on a daily basis.
The Volunteer Department of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia was established to assist the organization in providing quality care and advanced health service to patients and families. This goal is achieved through the recruitment and retention of a competent volunteer staff whose service compliments that of Hospital personnel.
Those people who are out of high school and at least 18 years of age desiring to give of their time to assist the Hospital staff are welcome to submit an application to volunteer. In order to be most effective and successful, volunteers must be consistent. Therefore, we have minimum commitment requirements for each program we offer and ask that you postpone volunteering until that becomes possible for you.
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is fortunate to receive many volunteer applications. Our program opportunities are based on the service needs of the hospital, therefore we match applicants’ skills, availability and experience to our current needs. Please be advised that because of the number of applications we receive, we may not be able to place you as a volunteer at this time. However, if an opportunity is available, we will be in touch with you regarding next steps. We greatly appreciate your desire to donate your time to our patients and families – this is why we tell you this information at the beginning of our application process.
