Volunteer Opportunities

Becoming a Volunteer

Before completing and returning the volunteer application, we ask that you please read the following very important information.

volunteer with babyVolunteers are not permitted to use their experience, or any information gathered while volunteering, for the purpose of any oral/written assignment, or power point/oral presentation.

If you are a college student looking to begin volunteering in the fall semester, please submit your application to us by June 15th. If you are a college student looking to volunteer starting in the spring semester, please submit your application to us by September 15th. If you are chosen to participate in our program, this will allow for the 6-8 weeks it takes to fully process a volunteer.

Acceptance to the volunteer program is contingent upon successful Criminal Background, FBI Fingerprint and Child Abuse History Clearances. These clearances will be provided by CHOP if you are selected to volunteer.

Our goal is to make the volunteer experience beneficial for both you and the hospital. With that in mind, if you have recently experienced the death of someone close to you, we ask that you postpone applying to volunteer for at least 24 months.

CHOP is an institution that enforces mandatory seasonal flu vaccinations. All volunteers are required to receive the season flu vaccine. This is provided free of charge at CHOP and all active volunteers will receive notification when the flu shot clinics begin each fall.

Please review all of the information available to you on this webpage to make sure CHOP will be a good fit for what you are looking for in a volunteer opportunity.

For additional information regarding unpaid internships/externships, or shadowing, please contact our Human Resources Department directly.
