Those who are 18 and over not enrolled in college can apply to the following volunteer programs at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia when positions are available. Exception: Those who are 16 and over can apply to be a Reach Out and Reach on call clerical volunteer.
This volunteer role leads arts and crafts activities in an outpatient setting.
Volunteers in this role will provide support and comfort to patients and families through interactive play. This role will allow volunteers to interact with patients in playrooms and/or at the patient’s bedside.
Volunteers in the Connelly Resource Center promote learning and reading activities to support patients, parents, caretakers, siblings and other family members.
Help patients to participate in CHOP’s television studio programs by assisting with show promotion, bedside call-ins, on-air show interaction and live studio audience coordination during celebrity guest visits.
Support patients, families and staff through appropriate diversional activities and other tasks contributing to the comfort of patients and families while waiting for appointments in the outpatient setting. This is a weekday volunteer commitment.
Offer to engage children of all ages with books and reading aloud in an outpatient waiting room at a primary care doctor's office. Volunteer readers also help restock shelves with books.
As needed and when available, help lift and move boxes of donated children’s books in a parking lot and in a storage room at some CHOP locations in West Philadelphia (48th and Market Streets and 36th and Market Streets). Average time commitment is one hour, one to ten times per year.
Volunteers in this role work with certified teachers throughout the hospital to deliver school services to patients at CHOP.
