Dr. Ellen Deutsch and Simulation Training Featured in ENT Today

ENT Today recently interviewed Ellen Deutsch, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.A.P., director of surgical and preoperative simulation at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia’s Center for Simulation, Advanced Education, and Innovation, about the benefits of realistic training programs for new doctors. Dr. Deutsch explained in the interview that these resources are hugely beneficial to medical education, especially since limitations have been set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education as to how much a post-graduate can work. While these limits were created to prevent sleep deprivation from factoring into mistakes or accidents, some fear that these new work-hour rules may cause a slide in the medical education for the next generation of doctors. Read the article to learn why Dr. Deutsch thinks simulation training may be the solution to this problem.
