Raising Sickle Cell Awareness

CHOP's 10th Annual Blue Tag Gala, held on September 10th, raised more than $110,000 for the Sickle Cell Center at CHOP!

Twenty five years ago, Darlene Logan learned her unborn son would have sickle cell disease, a congenital and life-threatening condition. She turned to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for help then and again numerous times through his life. Her son Marc will turn 24 in October and he’s heading for graduate school.

Today, Darlene Logan serves as the co-chair of the campaign to raise funds and awareness of sickle cell disease and clinical research programs at CHOP. Read more about her story and the promising new sickle cell research by Alan W. Flake, MD, in The Philadelphia Tribune.
