The Bucks County Courier Times highlights Madeline MacAndrews and CHOP’s Daisy Day

It was Karen and Brian McAndrew’s first pregnancy. At their 20 week ultrasound they were excited to see little fingers and toes when they learned that their child had a congenital heart defect. Madeline McAndrews was born with a hole in her heart, and an undersized ventricle (pumping chamber). The hole was fixed by corrective surgery shortly after Madeline was born, and now she is a healthy three-year-old, but the road to good health isn’t always smooth for patients born with these sorts of heart defects. Madeline’s parents and grandfather have generously donated to the annual Daisy Day Luncheon, which this year benefits The Cardiac Center’s Single Ventricle Survivorship Program. Read the article to learn more about Madeline’s progress, and the generous gift her family gave to help children like her. Then, learn more about The Single Ventricle Survivorship Program.
