The Inquirer features the medical journey of OncoGirl

OncoGirl is known to most of her friends as Rachel. She is an 11 year-old girl from North Jersey in every regard. She loves to swim, figure skate, and hang with her friends. She was recently diagnosed with a type of bone cancer known as Ewing’s Sarcoma. This rare disease occurs most frequently in adolescents.  In Rachel’s case, the cancer affects the femur bone in her right leg. Rachel has been undergoing treatment since February.  Today, she had surgery to remove the cancer from her bone.  During the next few months of recovery from surgery and chemotherapy treatment, this brave young woman will be writing a blog. “Over the next few months, I plan to share the rest of this journey with you as I see it happen,” Rachel shared in her first post. Meet OncoGirl, and then, continue to follow her courageous story as she will be posting regularly.
