The Creative Arts Therapies Program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is announcing a call for papers for our inaugural Pediatric Medical Creative Arts Therapy Conference being held April 20 – 21, 2018, at our Main Campus in Philadelphia.
There are many different ways that creative arts therapists are innovatively using their modalities in pediatric medical settings, and we are excited to provide a venue to share these unique practices. Dr. Joke Bradt, PhD, MT-BC, celebrated scholar and researcher, will be our keynote speaker.
Submission deadline and presentation requirements
Please submit your proposals by Dec. 7, 2017. All presentations will be 60 minutes. In addition to completing the online form below, please submit a Word document of your abstract and the following information to creativearts@email.chop.edu:
- Title (12 words maximum).
- Abstract (600 words maximum). Please submit your proposal in narrative format, citing references in APA.
- Brief description (50 words maximum, appropriate for inclusion in the conference program)
- Program objectives: List three measurable objectives that you will address in this presentation. For example: This presentation will utilize theories from several disciplines to develop a comprehensive plan for creating accessible art therapy interventions for hospitalized toddlers.
- Learning objectives: List three measurable objectives that participants will be able to do at the end of your presentation. For example: Participants will be able to list at least three treatment goals that may be appropriate in considering art therapy interventions for hospitalized toddlers.
- Current resume or CV for each presenter, documenting degrees, credentials and qualifications in the area of content being presented.
Conference registration will be free for all accepted presenters. Presenters will be responsible for any other cost for attendance including transportation and lodging. Please contact us at creativearts@email.chop.edu with any questions.
Your proposal submission confirms that you will obtain all the necessary release forms given your discipline (artwork, recordings) for information provided in your presentation. The contact person will be the primary and sole contact for the conference planning committee. The contact person is responsible for communicating all information with co-presenters (who are identified on this form).
