Breast and Chest Program Conditions We Treat

We treat a wide variety of pediatric breast anomalies and chest wall disorders. Some breast disorders are present at birth (congenital anomalies) while others are acquired later in development.

Some of the most common pediatric breast anomalies we treat include:

  • Breast masses: cysts, tumors, lumps and bumps
  • Breast asymmetry
  • Breast hypoplasia (underdevelopment of the breast tissue)
  • Poland syndrome
  • Extra breast tissue, including polythelia (extra nipples), polymastia (extra breast tissue) and ectopic breast tissue (commonly in the axilla or armpit area)
  • Nipple and areolar deformities
  • Macromastia (most common type of overgrowth of the breast)
  • Tuberous and constricted breast deformities
  • Juvenile hypertrophy
  • Gynecomastia (extra breast tissue in males)
  • Breast deformities related to trauma, burns and vascular malformations or other conditions
