Background

Allison Ballantine, MD, MEd, is Associate Chief Medical Officer at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Middleman Family Pavilion and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. In her clinical practice, Dr. Ballantine focuses on the inpatient care of medically complex children, and she played an integral role in the design and development of the clinical aspects of the Middleman Family Pavilion.

Dr. Ballantine has led multiple programs and initiatives at CHOP and Penn. Most recently, before being named Associate Chief Medical Officer of CHOP's hospital in King of Prussia, she was Senior Medical Director and Section Chief of Inpatient Services for the Division of General Pediatrics. She also founded and served as Co-director of Penn’s Master's in Education Program for Physicians and Other Health Care Providers and served as Associate Program Director of CHOP’s Pediatrics Residency Program.

Dr. Ballantine earned her medical degree at Penn State College of Medicine. She completed her residency in General Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and holds a master's in Education from the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
