Allison Ballantine, MD, is an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania. She is the section chief of inpatient services for the Division of General Pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she is an attending on the general pediatrics and palliative care services. She is also the program director for UPenn's Master's in Education for Physicians and other Health Care Providers.
Dr. Ballantine coordinates educational programs within the Division of General Pediatrics, as well as advising and mentoring education-related research and pedagogical projects within the institution. Her specific interests center around the process of mentorship and faculty development. Dr. Ballantine is very active nationally in the pediatric hospitalist movement with a specific focus on the challenges of providing comprehensive care to medically complex and underprivileged patient populations.
Dr. Ballantine earned her medical degree from Pennsylvania State College of Medicine. She completed her residency in general pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and her Master's in Education at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
