Marcus Davey, PhD, is an investigator with the Center for Fetal Research, the research extension of the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). He also serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and is a frequent lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.
As an investigator with the Center for Fetal Research, Dr. Davey is part of a team working on cutting edge studies aimed at treating a wide variety of genetic disorders before birth. Dr. Davey specializes in fetal anomalies and lung development, with a focus on the biology of the lung and conditions such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia, congenital diaphragmatic hernia and pulmonary hypertension. His research focus extends to areas of pediatric respiratory and pulmonary issues and pediatric surgery.
Dr. Davey has performed extensive research to explore the safety and efficacy of fetal therapies with the potential to improve respiratory function and lung development. He studies the impact of prematurity on lung development and how in utero treatments such as tracheal occlusion affect respiratory function and lung growth.
