Dr. Finalle is the Medical Director of the Global Health Center at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He has been a leader in Global Health at CHOP since 2004. In his position as Medical Director, Dr. Finalle oversees and provides leadership and guidance to a wide variety of Global Health activities throughout the institution including the Pincus Fellowship, the annual Global Health Conference, the Global Health Allies program, and an array of international efforts lead by CHOP faculty. Dr. Finalle provides strategic vision and direction to the critically important area of global child health in the Department of Pediatrics. He is actively involved in Global Health scholarly activities at Penn, and also oversees CHOP’s international travel safety and security program.
Dr. Finalle’s distinguished career at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as a clinician, educator, administrator and advocate for children’s health has been marked by a commitment to extend CHOP’s expertise and resources to children far beyond Philadelphia.
In 2003, Dr. Finalle launched CHOP’s Global Health Program, which provides clinical services for children and ongoing education for healthcare providers in resource scarce communities in Latin America and southern Africa. These international humanitarian programs work to develop sustainable care models with global partners that will have lasting impact on children’s health. Under Dr. Finalle’s leadership, Children’s Hospital also hosts an annual pediatric Global Health conference, attracting healthcare leaders from around the world. Dr. Finalle also leads one of the few Pediatric Global Health Fellowship programs in the US.
Dr. Finalle guides initiatives in Latin America and supports new business opportunities which promote CHOP’s world-renowned care and education programs. He works with the International Patient Services staff and focuses his attention to developing new relationships with international partners such as healthcare systems, embassies, insurance providers and individual physicians to assist those who seek exceptional pediatric medical care at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
