  • Background

    Samuel Goldfarb, MD, is the medical director of the Lung Transplant Program and Heart/Lung Transplant Program at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He also serves as director of the Hospital’s Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Center and the Children’s Interstitial and Diffuse Lung Disease Center, and co-director of the Solid Organ Transplant Center.

    A graduate of Tel Aviv University Medical School, Dr. Goldfarb completed his pediatric internship and residency at Bridgeport Hospital, Yale University, CT. He continued his specialty training at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology and has remained on faculty at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia since that time.

    Dr. Goldfarb maintains a special interest in the treatment of children with end-stage lung disease such as cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary late effects of oncology treatments and other pulmonary disorders.

    An active member of the International Pediatric Lung Transplant Collaborative (IPLTC), Dr. Goldfarb has served as president since 2010, participating in the development of a standardized protocol and several multi-center clinical studies. He is also a member of the American Thoracic Society, the Rare Diffuse Pediatric Lung Disease Consortium, and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), where he serves on the ISHLT Scientific Council on Pediatric Transplantation.
