Dr. Hawkes trained in pediatrics in Ireland prior to completing fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He was appointed as an attending in 2015.
His primary clinical interests are disorders of growth and puberty, type 1 diabetes and the endocrine late effects of cancer treatment. His current primary research studies are related to the evaluation and management of children with short stature or growth hormone deficiency.
Dr. Hawkes has published more than 40 manuscripts, chapters and reviews. He has also developed a number of educational smartphone applications for parents, children and healthcare providers.
