Shirley Huang, MD, is an attending physician for the Healthy Weight Program, Lipid Heart Clinic, and the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Huang received her BS in Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University and her MD from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She completed her general pediatrics residency at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her nutrition fellowship at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Huang’s background and interests include clinical nutrition (obesity prevention and management, lipid management, and nutrition support), nutrition program development, community nutrition, nutrition education, and international nutrition.
She was the founding medical director for the Healthy Weight Program and was invited to be on the first Board of Directors for the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2012.
Dr. Huang was a former program director for the Nutrition Fellowship Program in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, and she has mentored many students, residents, and fellows in nutrition. In 2015, she was awarded the Fellows' Nutrition Faculty Teaching Honor Roll. She is a firm believer in the train the trainer model, and hopes to make a difference by disseminating her knowledge and skill set to others. Her vision is to empower families to live a healthier lifestyle.
