Debra Voulalas, MD

Debra Voulalas, MD, is an Attending Physician at the Karabots Primary Care Center at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

She received her BS degree in Zoology from Rutgers University in New Jersey and her MD degree from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY where she also completed her pediatric residency and fellowship in General and Behavioral Pediatrics.

Dr. Voulalas’s interests include sickle cell disease, anemia, asthma, management of FTT/disorders of growth and development and international health. Her clinical research has included evaluation of vaccine efficacy in children with sickle cell disease and vaccination coverage in resource-limited settings.

Dr. Voulalas has been an active clinical leader in The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Global Health Programs in the Dominican Republic, and serves as a clinical mentor to the fellows, and to residents doing the Global Health elective in the CHOP-supported primary care clinic Ninos Primeros en Salud, particularly with their required scholarly project. She has been active in working with the Global Health faculty and CHOP residents to develop the proposed Global Health path and track at CHOP.
