Background

Pediatric dermatologist Albert Yan, MD, FAAP, FAAD, enjoys working with children and families every day. He combines his expertise in pediatrics and dermatology to understand and diagnose the concerns of patients and provide the best possible care.

It is a priority of Dr. Yan’s to understand the individual needs and health concerns of his patients and families. He is a compassionate practitioner who uses his training, expertise, and knowledge of the latest therapeutic tools to find the right solutions.

Dr. Yan specialized in dermatology because of the opportunity it gives him to make an immediate, positive impact on the lives of his patients. Skin conditions can affect how a child looks and feels, and they can also serve as markers for underlying diseases.

“I find it gratifying to be able to translate what I see on the skin into a diagnosis that allows me to provide appropriate treatments, whether that involves reassurance, topical remedies, oral therapies, or surgical and laser procedures,” he explains.

Dr. Yan sees the field of pediatric dermatology as constantly evolving and uncovering new, better treatment options for patients. “We continue to see improvements in how we understand why diseases occur and how best to treat them,” he explains.

His research focuses on evaluating new drugs for children in clinical trials. He also researches vascular anomalies, genetic skin diseases, and technological innovations for delivering dermatologic care.
