The Medical Library of The Children's Hospital
of Philadelphia is staffed by a professional librarian and a library assistant
to provide full library services for the medical/hospital staff and medical
and nursing students. It is located on the ninth floor of the Main Building,
room 9546.
The library's resources and services include:
Collection resources including
a clinical medicine/nursing collection of books and journals emphasizing
pediatrics. Standard textbooks in other specialties are also available.
Online searches: The library
has access to a variety of online search applications including Pubmed,
Medline and more.
End-user training is offered
to users by the library staff.
Reference service: Full bibliographic
and ready reference services are provided to all patrons.
Interlibrary loan service:
The Children's Hospital Library participates in DOCLINE®, the
National Library of Medicine's automated interlibrary loan request
routing and referral system. Through DOCLINE, we are able to exchange
materials with other medical institutions across the country and in
Canada. In most cases, we can provide this service free of charge,
with very quick turnaround.
