For more than a decade, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has worked closely with the Clinca Alemana in Santiago, Chile. Together, the two institutions offer a bi-annual Continuing Medical Education course in pediatric emergency medicine at the Clinica. To date, the course has provided training for more than 3,000 professionals. Recently, the successful partnership expanded to create a new CME course in general pediatrics. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has also assisted the Clinica Alemana with becoming a Pediatric Life Support center.
Physicians from Clinica Alemana also visit The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for learning experiences in other specialties and our faculty members have conducted visiting professorships in Chile on a variety of topics, including neurology, pulmonology and developmental pediatrics.
As part of the institution’s Global Health Program, Children’s Hospital enjoys an academic collaboration with the Hospital Infantil Robert Reid Cabral, the Dominican Republic’s largest pediatric teaching hospital. The relationship is part of a broader joint effort between The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and our collaborators in the Dominican Republic to develop programs that encourage sustainable improvement in child health within that country.
