Dr. Spray is chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He holds the Alice Langdon Warner Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery. He also serves as Executive Director of the CHOP's Cardiac Center, a multidisciplinary program with more than 500 staff members dedicated exclusively to the care of pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart disease.
Dr. Spray is recognized worldwide for expertise in complex surgical repairs for cardiac conditions. He also has extensive experience in heart, lung and heart/lung transplantation. He is the surgical director of CHOP's Infant and Pediatric Heart Transplant Program and Lung and Heart/Lung Transplant Program.
Dr. Spray is a member of numerous professional and scientific organizations, including the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (of which he served as president from 2008-09), the American Surgical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the Congenital Heart Surgeons' Society, the International Society for Cardiovascular Surgery, and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.
Dr. Spray has published hundreds of journal articles and abstracts and has written or edited several major textbooks, including Mastery of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is a frequently invited lecturer and visiting professor at conferences, symposia and medical centers around the world.
