CHOP's board-certified doctors and nurses treat babies, children and teens at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro (UMCPP) as part of an ongoing partnership to provide expert care, close to home.
Parents and children now have access to world-class pediatric healthcare right in their own community at UMCPP. Through this partnership, physicians and other health professionals from CHOP work on-site with the physicians and clinical staff of UMCPP to provide exceptional care for your child.
Pediatric services available at UMCPP include:
- Pediatric emergency consultation
- Inpatient pediatric care
- Neonatal care
A CHOP hospitalist is on-site 24/7 to consult on emergency cases involving infants, children and adolescents in UMCPP's Emergency Department.
CHOP provides a pediatric hospitalist on-site 24/7 to care for children and adolescents who are admitted to UMCPP's Pediatric Unit. A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for patients in the hospital and who does not have an outpatient medical practice. The CHOP pediatric hospitalist program supports the work of pediatricians on staff at UMCPP.
CHOP neonatologists and certified neonatal nurses provide 24/7 care in the 14-bed, Level II Special Care Nursery at the UMCPP. The medical center features individual patient rooms to enhance patient privacy and family-centered care. CHOP staff can treat premature and full-term infants with respiratory failure, sepsis, jaundice and other neonatal conditions that require special care. UCMPP has a strong breastfeeding program and is on the path toward UNICEF/WHO Baby Friendly designation.
In addition to providing exceptional care for babies and children, UMCPP is a national leader in maternity care, delivering more than 2,000 babies each year. The medical center has ranked among the top 5 percent of hospitals in the U.S. for maternity care for four consecutive years, and has received the HealthGrades' Maternity Care Excellence Award.
UCMPP's perinatologists are affiliated with Penn Medicine and can provide care and consultative services to high-risk obstetrical patients.
