CHOP Newborn & Pediatric Care at Grand View Hospital is a pediatric service developed to provide high-quality inpatient, consultative and emergency care to children in Bucks County, PA. The program combines the expertise of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with Grand View Hospital's Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Unit.
CHOP Newborn Care at Grand View Hospital includes a newly-built Level II NICU with six beds. The unit manages 1,600 deliveries a year, and that number is steadily on the rise.
Available services include maternal/fetal medicine, perinatal testing, lactation services, “nesting rooms,” 24-hour in-house coverage by CHOP’s board-certified neonatologists and hospitalists, and consultation from CHOP radiologists and cardiologists, who provide echocardiography services.
Since November 1995, Grand View's 16-bed pediatric unit delivers an enhanced level of inpatient pediatric care in familiar surroundings. Attending pediatricians provide 24-hour inpatient service to the pediatric unit, birthing rooms and nursery, as well as emergency room consultations.
CHOP Pediatric Care works with a team of healthcare professionals — primary care physicians, inpatient pediatricians and a specially trained nursing staff. In addition, telephone consultations with specialists at Children's Hospital help speed the patient's recovery.
Upon discharge, final summaries and test results are forwarded to all caregivers, keeping everyone informed. Patients are referred to their primary care provider for follow-up care on discharge.
Subspecialists from Children's Hospital are available for consultation at Grand View Hospital. This expanding program includes pediatric cardiology, pediatric neurology, pediatric gastroenterology and developmental pediatrics.
