Holy Redeemer Hospital and Medical Center in Meadowbrook opened its new 15‐bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in April 2010 as part of a three‐phase investment in maternity and newborn care for the families of its community. In addition to the NICU, Holy Redeemer has seven maternity triage beds and six additional post partum beds.
Holy Redeemer provides Level III NICU services to its smallest, most vulnerable patients, some born as early as 24 weeks gestation. Holy Redeemer cares for about 250 babies in its NICU and delivers 3000 newborns each year.
In-house neonatal nurse practitioners or neonatologists provide 24-hour coverage, with easy access to CHOP subspecialists for consultation. Transports to Holy Redeemer for convalescent pre-discharge care is available through the CHOP Transport Team. Apnea monitoring services and developmental follow-up care services are available at the Hospital's NICU developmental clinic.
