The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia announces the grand opening of the CHOP Specialty Care Center at Abington on the campus of Abington Memorial Hospital. This is the latest expansion in the CHOP Care Network, which today has more than 50 locations throughout the region.
CHOP Specialty Care Center at Abington is a 4,600-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility specially designed to meet the needs of children, with eight exam rooms, two physician consult rooms and laboratory space. The new office consolidates three separate pediatric practices for cardiology, gastroenterology and pulmonary medicine into one location on the Abington campus and increases the world-renowned Children’s Hospital services available to families in the Montgomery County area.
In addition to appointments with Children’s Hospital specialists, patients can schedule electrocardiograms (EKGs), as well as laboratory, breath and other diagnostic tests. New consultation services will be added this summer, including endocrinology, additional gastroenterology and general surgery. The office is at 1245 Highland Avenue, Suite 204, Price Medical Office Building at Abington Memorial Hospital.
“The opening of this Specialty Care Center marks the beginning of a new chapter in CHOP’s long relationship with Abington Memorial Hospital,” said Steven Altschuler, chief executive officer of Children’s Hospital. “This new space makes it possible to expand our services right here in Montgomery County, in one convenient, family-friendly location. This new Specialty Care Center is a welcome addition to the renowned CHOP Care Network and helps us fulfill our mission of providing top-quality pediatric care to children close to their homes.”
“We are pleased to enhance our partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia by providing pediatric specialty services right here in Montgomery County. It’s a win-win for the hospitals and the youngest residents of Montgomery and Bucks Counties,” said Laurence M. Merlis, president and chief executive officer of Abington Health.
