Reporter Christina Mitchell of the Courier-Post came to the Transplant Center at CHOP in December 2011 to meet Riley O'Brien. This 3 ½-year-old boy is courageously battling the effects of heterotaxy syndrome and complex congenital heart disease.
He is one of two children at CHOP who are waiting for a rare heart-lung transplant from a living donor. And it's been two years that Riley and his family have been hoping an appropriate donor would be found.
