As a family member, whether you are visiting The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for a single outpatient appointment, for a day in the Hospital or for an extended inpatient stay, you have access to staff and services designed especially for you and your family. Partnership with families is the foundation of our Philosophy
of Care and we are committed to providing the best family-centered care and services to you and your child.
Connelly Resource Center
The Connelly Resource Center for Families and other family resource rooms are quiet places to take a break or nap; browse through information on healthcare, finances, parenting and education; speak with the family librarian; surf the Internet; attend a coffee hour or select children's books and videos. A Family Learning Center in the Connelly Center offers many classes to help families learn new skills needed to care for their children in the hospital or at home.
Child Life Services
The staff of the Child Life, Education and Creative Arts Therapy Department help children, teens and family members cope with the healthcare experience through developmentally appropriate activities for children, education about and preparation for medical procedures and through emotional support.
Ethics Committee
Decisions involving personal or spiritual beliefs can become ethical dilemmas. When you and your child's healthcare team must make these difficult treatment decisions, know that the Ethics Committee staff may be able to help. There are many resources available to support you during your decision-making.
Home Care Service
The Home Care Service department provides family-centered care in the home when hospitalization is not necessary and support the care of children in the outpatient setting. Our staff is a team of pediatric nurses, doctors, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, social workers, dieticians and delivery technicians, all of whom are easily accessible and who are supported by our office staff.
Bereavement Service
We offer many forms of support to help families rebuild their lives after the death of a child. We hold support groups, workshops and services for parents and siblings who are grieving.
Message for Parents: Referring Physician Web site
If your child has been referred to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, your physician can track your child's care using The Referring Physician Web site. This Web site facilitates communication between the Hospital and referring physicians so they can better partner with us in the care of your child. The Hospital collects accurate contact information about your physician and communicates to them your child's updated medical information. For more information on how your child's physician can access the Web site, please have your physician contact Physician Referral Services at 267-426-2506.
We look forward to serving you. Please contact us if you have any questions.
