The Administrative Fellowship Program, sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, offers graduate-level fellows a unique vantage point to real-life experience in the nation’s best pediatric hospital.
CHOP offers distinctive opportunities for post-graduate training in healthcare administration. The goal of the Administrative Fellowship Program is to provide individuals with exceptional leadership training and a strong foundation in academic medicine.
CHOP’s two-year Administrative Fellowship (AFP) will focus on understanding the complexities and functions of a large pediatric healthcare system. The fellows will have a diverse, hands-on experience with the opportunity to gain exposure in areas such as corporate structure, capital finance, operations and system-wide strategic planning.
The AFP fellows will have one preceptor, the Director of Diversity and Inclusion, to whom they report throughout the program. Additionally, fellows will have a reporting relationship to the executive sponsor (Chief Administrative Officer) with administrative oversight by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. The sponsor has a duel role as mentor and executive sponsor.
During the second year, the fellows pursue an area of interest based on personal and professional goals, as well as organizational opportunities. In addition to project work, the fellow will attend senior management and board meetings, which will aid in the understanding of a complex healthcare system.
We will present challenging assignments and expect great outcomes from our fellows. We offer ongoing support to each of our fellows as they progress through the various rotations and preceptor relationships. We intend to offer continuity as well as a wide variety of management exposures and relationships.
Upon successful completion of the program, the fellows have the option to apply to a position with the Office of Enterprise Improvement & Effectiveness (EIE) or to pursue other career opportunities with CHOP.
