Pediatric Residency Program

Special Programs

Combined Training in Pediatrics and Genetics

We offer a 5-year integrated Pediatrics/Genetics program (in conjunction with the Department of Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine) leading to board eligibility in both disciplines.

Combined Training in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine

The Department of Pediatrics at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Department of Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania jointly sponsor the Med/Peds program. This 4-year program, established in 2004, provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient training in the two rigorous and complementary environments.

Combined Training in Pediatrics and Child Neurology

CHOP sponsors a Pediatrics and Child Neurology track, approved by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. A special agreement exists with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) whereby an applicant who completes at least 2 years of accredited training in general comprehensive pediatrics and the neurology training necessary to meet the requirements for certification in neurology with special qualifications in Child Neurology fulfills the training requirements of both the ABP and the ABPN. An applicant may not take the certifying examination of the ABP until all training in both programs has been successfully completed. Refer to the American Board of Pediatrics Web site for more information.
