Our Pediatric Residency Program is the keystone of CHOP’s educational programs and patient care system. Residents are central to the missions of the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and the CHOP Care Network, a network of more than 50 pediatric and adolescent primary and specialty care practices in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Pediatric Residency Program at CHOP is balanced, flexible and supportive:
CHOP residents train in cutting-edge facilities, surrounded by world-renowned faculty. The staff physicians at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia hold faculty appointments in the Ruth and Raymond Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, whose campus sits immediately adjacent to the CHOP Main Campus. Faculty members have won multiple School of Medicine, regional and national teaching awards.
Faculty members teach on rounds, at the bedside, in multiple small group sessions and in didactic settings. In addition, faculty members frequently mentor residents in clinical, translational and basic science research projects and serve as advisors and mentors for several community outreach experiences for residents.
CHOP also consistently earns recognition as one of the nation’s best pediatric hospital from respected publications:
