Adoption Family Program Updates
Please join us as we begin our Winter/Spring 2013 family event series. We have two primary goals as we work through these programs.
First, we aim to help parents and children have:
- A forum and strategies for initiating and maintaining open discussion about the impact of their adoption across school age, teen, and adult years.
- A place to learn strategies to consider how adoption brings questions of belonging, identity, and transracial differences.
- A venue for learning, together, ways to respond when other people in your family’s community ask intrusive questions.
Second, we hope this series will help parents and children and teens connect with other families and adoptive individuals, and a place to develop relationships that may be helpful when life as an adoptive family hits road blocks and speed bumps.
May 4: Living Life Together as a Transracial Family
We are thrilled to have the commitment of Rhonda Roorda, author of several excellent books, including “In Their Own Voices: Transracial Adoptees Tell Their Stories." Ms. Roorda is a dynamic and nationally known speaker in this topic, herself an adoptee who grew up in a wonderfully transracial family. Learn more and register to attend »
