How to Apply for a Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship
Requirements for the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program
- Completion of the core residency in anesthesiology that qualifies the candidate to enter the certification process of the American Board of Anesthesiology or its equivalent.
- Successful completion of USMLE 1, 2 and 3.
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support. Any cost incurred in meeting the ACLS and ATLS requirements, up to $750, will be reimbursed by CHOP through our Department, upon receipt of a copy of course certifications.
- A minimum of three reference letters; one must come from the chair or residency program director of the candidate's core anesthesiology residency.
- Copies of results of all Anesthesiology-in-Training examinations.
- A copy of the candidate's medical school Dean's Letter and transcript.
- An unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license and graduate medical training registration with the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine.
- A current DEA certificate.
Match information
Pediatric anesthesiology fellowship programs do not participate in a match process. The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program interviews and accepts candidates on a rolling basis. It is desirable for the candidate to begin the fellowship on July 1 of any year. Variable start dates are negotiable.
