How to Apply for a Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship

Requirements for the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program

  1. Completion of the core residency in anesthesiology that qualifies the candidate to enter the certification process of the American Board of Anesthesiology or its equivalent.
  2. Successful completion of USMLE 1, 2 and 3.
  3. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support. Any cost incurred in meeting the ACLS and ATLS requirements, up to $750, will be reimbursed by CHOP through our Department, upon receipt of a copy of course certifications.
  4. A minimum of three reference letters; one must come from the chair or residency program director of the candidate's core anesthesiology residency.
  5. Copies of results of all Anesthesiology-in-Training examinations.
  6. A copy of the candidate's medical school Dean's Letter and transcript.
  7. An unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license and graduate medical training registration with the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine.
  8. A current DEA certificate.

Pediatric Anesthesia fellowship application and match information 

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia participates in the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship NRMP match. It is desirable for candidates to begin the fellowship on July 1 of any year. Variable start dates are negotiable. Please use the common fellowship application which is being accepted by all Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Programs. The following documents must be included with your application:

  1. Current CV and personal statement
  2. Copies of results of all Anesthesiology-in-Training examinations.
  3. A copy of the candidate's Medical School Dean's Letter and Transcript.
  4. Copies of USMLE/COMLEX Steps 1, 2 & 3.
  5. Copy of ACLS/ATLS/PALS certification (if completed)
  6. 6. Copy of medical/training license in your state
  7. 7. 2 Passport size photos
