We offer outpatient services at our Main Campus, as well as at 10 suburban centers convenient to families, and we partner with two dozen community hospitals.
Our CHOP Care Network Specialty Care Centers are located in:
Our cardiologists also offer outpatient evaluations at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ, Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, PA, and Virtua Voorhees, Voorhees, NJ.
All Cardiac Center inpatient services are on the sixth floor of the Hospital's Main Building. The sixth floor includes a 25-bed step-down Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), a 24-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), a 13-bed Cardiac Preparation and Recovery Unit (CPRU), and a six-room complex that includes the cardiothoracic operating rooms, catheterization labs and MRI suite, and the Garbose Family Special Delivery Unit, the world's first birth facility specifically designed for mothers carrying babies with known birth defects. Look at a map of the sixth floor and click the links below to learn more. Outpatient services are located on the third floor of the Main Building.
Designed exclusively to provide state-of-the-art cardiac care, the 25-bed Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) is located on the sixth floor of Children's Hospital, adjacent to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). Each of the unit's 25 beds is connected to a monitored telemetry arrhythmia station.
Children requiring less than intensive care are typically admitted to the CCU. They include:
Located on the sixth floor of Children's Hospital's South Tower, the 24-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is one of the largest dedicated CICUs in the world. Every technological form of support and treatment available in cardiac care is available here.
This state-of-the-art CICU is designed and staffed to care for children during the most intense period of their treatment.
These children and their families receive interdisciplinary care from a team of pediatric cardiac intensivists, cardiologists, cardiac anesthesiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons and cardiac nurses. This team also includes specialized staff in congenital heart and cardiac diseases from pharmacy, respiratory therapy, child life, social work and psychology. Expert consultation from all of the other Children's Hospital specialists is just moments away if needed.
To ensure that patients always have the best care immediately available, there is an attending physician plus one to two fellows in the CICU seven days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Nurses and respiratory therapists are also always available for cardiac patients.
Adjacent to the cardiothoracic operating rooms, catheterization labs and MRI suite is a specially designed and staffed 13-bed Cardiac Preparation and Recovery Unit (CPRU) that provides highly specialized pre- and post-catheterization and procedure recovery care for infants, children and adults. This unit includes a reception room with full amenities where families may wait and receive support during their child's catheterization, procedure or surgery.
Opened in 2008, this complex is one of the most advanced in the world. It includes an XMR Suite (catheterization lab/MRI), Hybrid Suite (catheterization lab/operating room), an additional catheterization lab, and two additional cardiac operating rooms.
This labor and delivery unit is exclusively for mothers carrying babies with birth defects diagnosed in the womb. It includes labor-and-delivery rooms, as well as operating rooms for fetal surgery and c-section deliveries.
All Cardiac Center outpatient services are located on the third floor of the Hospital's Main Building. The third floor includes:
