Thousands of children are diagnosed with celiac disease each year in the United States. At The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, we understand this may be an extremely challenging and disorienting time for your child and your family. You may want to better understand celiac disease, treatment options and long-term outcomes for children diagnosed with the disorder.
The Center for Celiac Disease, in cooperation with the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at CHOP, provides comprehensive information about the treatment and management of pediatric digestive conditions, as well as a host of additional resources that may help you today and as your child grows.

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at CHOP provides outpatient services in 10 locations. For details about our comprehensive diagnostic services, inpatient care and specialty programs, see Our Services.
The Division has compiled an A-to-Z listing and explanation of common diagnostic tests, procedures and terms related to gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. See the GI Glossary.
For your convenience, we offer a number of medical forms online. You can save time at your first appointment by printing and filling out these forms before your visit. Learn more about Patient Forms.
Some children may require a nasogastric (NG) tube to receive the nutrients they need to grow. In this training video series, clinicians at CHOP present an overview of NG tubes including family demonstrations. Watch the GI Training Videos.
The CHOP-Penn Transition Program includes adult and pediatric gastroenterologists, hepatologists, a full-time nurse practitioner and other healthcare providers from CHOP and Penn Medicine, working together to ensure a smooth transition to adult care. Our team works closely with you and your child to prepare you for the transition years in advance, and then provide comprehensive support during the process. Watch our Transition Video Series.
All patient families at CHOP have access to hospital-wide support programs that ease some of the burdens associated with caring for a sick child.
