CATIPIHLER

CATIPIHLER (Children’s Hospital Assessment and Treatment Implementation Program for Infants/Toddlers with Hearing Loss – Enhancement Rehabilitation) is a program designed to support and provide information to families whose young children (from time of diagnosis until entry into kindergarten) have been diagnosed with any type of hearing loss managed by CHOP Audiologists.

The program also helps families identify and access services both inside and outside the Hospital, including options for optimal communication development.

Educational consultant services

Education workshops

An opportunity for your family to learn about educating your child who has been newly diagnosed with hearing loss.

Education workshops provide assistance with understanding:

Evening parent meetings

Various topics are presented during the meetings, held at different CHOP locations. Parent meetings provide you with an opportunity to meet other families.

Phone or in-person consultations

Educators from the CATIPIHLER program will contact you to review your child’s educational needs.

Speech and language assessment and intervention sessions

Our Speech-Language Pathologist helps children with hearing loss develop speech, language, and auditory skills.

These services are not meant to replace your child’s Early Intervention services but rather to work in collaboration with your service provider. Early Intervention service providers are welcome to attend these session.

CATIPIHLER team

The CATIPIHLER team includes audiologists, speech-language pathologists, educators and mental health professionals. CATIPIHLER works collaboratively with Early Intervention providers to support children from the time of diagnosis until entry into kindergarten.
