There is no one specific diet for children with diabetes. Children with diabetes can and should eat a variety of foods to promote growth and health.

Carbohydrates are the primary source of energy in food. For the body to use this energy, there must be enough insulin in the body to match the amount of carbohydrates eaten.

The key to planning meals for children with diabetes is to match insulin to carbohydrates in the diet.
