Curriculum and Sample Rotations
Each year contains 13 four-week blocks
First year
Pediatric emergency medicine - six and one-half blocks:
- Anesthesia - one block
- Critical care - one and one half blocks
- Trauma - one block
- General emergency medicine - one block
- Child abuse - one block
- Research - one block
Second year
Pediatric emergency medicine/Pediatric trauma - six blocks:
- Transport medicine - one block
- Anesthesia - one-half block
- Toxicology - one block
- General emergency medicine - one block
- Pediatric trauma - one block
- Sports medicine - one block
Elective/research - two and one half blocks:
Third year
Research - 13 blocks:
Clinical time as the attending physician in the ED
General emergency medicine
The curriculum for graduates of emergency medicine training programs is slightly modified from the above to include rotations in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Newborn/Infant Center), ambulatory electives in Cardiology, Dermatology and Neurology and Pediatric well child care.
