Tests and Lab Work
Before coming to the Healthy Weight Clinic, we may ask your child to get some lab tests. Depending on his or her condition, these may include blood tests, urine samples, and other tests like a sleep study or an exercise test. We will go over any questions you or your child may have about your lab work, to help explain the test, and provide any special instructions.
Your child may be able to have all of his or her lab work done here at Children's Hospital. Because most insurance companies have rules about where tests may be performed, you must check with your plan to see if you can have these procedures done by us. If your insurance company approves the testing and you need the results before your visit, call our main number, 1-800-TRY CHOP (1-800-879-2467), to make your appointments.
Please note that you may need additional referral forms from your insurance company or your child's doctor for these services. In some cases, a consultation with a Children's Hospital physician may be necessary before your child can receive testing or treatment at the Hospital or one of our specialty care sites.
