The Impact of the Environment on Children’s Health

A vital concern in global health is the impact of environment and how it can be both facilitating of healthful living but also be the source of challenges that impede well-being. As international awareness of global health concerns greatly expanded, so did a consciousness of the influence of the physical and social milieu in which people live as a primary determinant of health.

The worldwide commitment to reduce global pediatric mortality has heightened the awareness of the many environmentally caused illnesses responsible for most of the unnecessary deaths in the world. Given the fact that 30,000 children die each day, interventions must address the environmental factors that trigger these global health ills.
