Global Health Allies Program
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has had a profound influence on children’s healthcare around the world. As part of our commitment to improve children’s health in developing countries, we have created the Global Health Allies Program.
The Allies Program provides opportunities for CHOP employees to use their expertise to work on specific global health projects both in Philadelphia and in the Dominican Republic. Projects are based on community and program needs. Some examples of Global Health Allies projects are:
- Conducting a community-based anthropometric survey in the Dominican Republic
- Developing educational resources for medical staff
- Participating in a global health planning committee in Philadelphia
- When opportunities to work on a specific project arise, the opportunity is advertised on the Global Health website and CHOP intranet and an application process ensues.
Highlights of the Global Health Allies program
- An invaluable opportunity for employees to enrich their professional experience and gain a real-life perspective on global healthcare.
- A useful recruitment and retention tool for managers — and a unique form of reward and recognition.
- Participation will be project-based dependent on program needs.
- Interested employees will go through a selection process. The Global Health Allies will be chosen by a selection committee, based on criteria determined by Global Health leadership.
- Employees selected to participate will receive their regular salary. Every effort is made to offset the cost to employees participating in the program.
- To be eligible for the program, applicants must have been employed at CHOP for at least 18 months.
