Medical Director, International Medical Education

StephenIn addition to his role in International Medical Education, Dr. Ludwig serves as Chairman of the Graduate Medical Education Committee, Continuing Medical Education Committee and Designated Institutional Official as well as Senior Advisor for Medical Education. He also is a Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

As a Medical Director for International Medical Education, Dr. Ludwig supports the continual education of all international practitioners. He provides medical leadership and guidance to international persons seeking educational experiences at CHOP. Dr. Ludwig also leads The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia’s many international medical education collaborations. He has worked oversees in countries including Jamaica, Bulgaria, Italy, Chile, Austria, Hong Kong, and Singapore. He has been an invited lecturer to many international engagements and conferences. Through this work, he hopes to help The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia’s clinicians share their clinical knowledge with the world.

Dr. Ludwig has served as President of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA), was elected to the Institute of Medicine, chaired the Pediatric Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and was a member of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP).

After graduating from the Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Ludwig obtained his Doctorate of Medicine (MD) at Temple University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Children's Hospital National Medical Center.
