Mutaz Al Mudaris

Mutaz joined the IPS team in July 2012. He was born in Baghdad, Iraq. He worked as an engineer in the food industry and in the evenings as a translator for an Iraqi TV station. In 2003, Mutaz served as a senior interpreter/translator and helped to coordinate between the Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports and their counterparts at the US embassy. He later moved to Jordan where he was a Training and Development manager at a five star hotel. He has interpreted for the UN, Red Cross and several media outlets.

Mutaz moved to Philadelphia in 2009 and began interpreting for Iraqi refugees at Thomas Jefferson University. He has also worked as an Annotator/Linguist at the University of Pennsylvania and interpreted on freelance basis for the State Department, escorting international delegations from the Arabic countries to different states.

Mutaz holds a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering with a major in plant pathology from Baghdad University. He is currently a member of the Delaware Valley Translators Association and the International Medical Interpreters Association. His future plans include obtaining a master's degree in Hospital Management.
