Collect
Sterile Body Fluid, Tissue or Deep Wnd Specimen
Volume Required
Sterile body fluid: 1-5mLs; Tissue or anerobic glass swab
Minimum Required
1mL fluid, tissue or anaerobic glass swab
Transport
Send to laboratory immediately at room temperature. Utilize anaerobic collection tubes for swab samples. Transport at room temperature
Stability
Anaerobic Swab: up to 2 hours. Other: up to 20 minutes.
Unacceptable conditions
Specimen received in Laboratory > 20 minutes from collection if not submitted in/on anaerobic swab
