PCR
Remarks
PCR is the methodology of choice for diagnosis;It is critical to adhere to transport instructions as enzymes in the specimen will degrade nucleic acid over time and promote false negative results. PCR detects nucleic acid, not viable organisms, so it should not be used as a test of cure. Duplicate specimens are not necessary
