Overview
The Hematology Lab is a part of the Core Laboratory at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The Hematology Lab consists of Routine Hematology, Urinalysis, Hematology/Oncology, and Hemoglobin. Routine Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation offers testing of blood and body fluids on a STAT and routine basis, 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Our dedicated technologists possess a unique pediatric laboratory testing expertise in each area of the lab, with an average of >20 years of experience at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
The tests commonly performed by the Hematology lab include:
- Complete Blood Count with Differential
- Reticulocyte Count
- Routine Urinalysis and microscopy
- Body Fluid Cell Count and Differential (includes cerebrospinal fluid, among other body fluids)
- Hemoglobin Identification
- Hemoglobin Quantitation
- Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate
- Monospot Test/Monolatex Test
- Urine Pregnancy Test
The laboratory assists our patients, clinicians and other clients to solve challenging hematologic problems. We also assist in basic and applied research using advanced technology and critical analysis.
