Evaluation and the Waiting List
Your child's doctor may refer you to the Liver Transplant Program at Children's Hospital once he or she suspects your child needs a liver transplant. Here's what you need to know about the transplant process.
Before your child is placed on the liver transplant waiting list, he or she will need to undergo a transplant evaluation to determine if transplant is the best option. Please call the program's administrative assistant at 215-590-4281 to schedule your initial appointment, to meet the liver transplant team and start the transplant evaluation process.
When you come to the hospital for your first appointment, be sure to bring:
- Any medications your child is currently taking
- Any X-rays or other imaging studies — either copies or doctor's reports
- Your child's medical records to date, including physicians' phone numbers and past test results
Your initial evaluation appointment will be on the main hospital campus. You can visit our directions page to get door-to-door directions from your area to the hospital. Once you're at the hospital, go to the third floor of the Wood building, in the GI Clinic, for your appointment.
