Research About Chronic Lung Disease
Research is integral to CHOP's Newborn and Infant Chronic Lung Disease Program, as we work to develop a broad evidence-based approach to the management of chronic lung disease (CLD). A prerequisite for this is accurate and meaningful data.
In addition to our own CLD research database, we also participate in the Neonatal Research Network of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the Children's Hospitals Neonatal Consortium.
Our research goals related to chronic lung disease are:
- To benchmark the care and outcomes of infants with severe CLD
- To develop clinical protocols that can be evaluated in systematic prospective studies
- To promote better understanding of the pathophysiology of CLD in conjunction with our basic science research
