Overview of the Neuromuscular Program

The Neuromuscular Clinic at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is a multidisciplinary clinic that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of children, adolescents and young adults with neuromuscular disorders. As a member of the Musculoskeletal Center, the clinic staff includes representatives from neurology, genetics, pulmonary medicine, cardiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, orthopedic surgery, nutrition and social work. We provide comprehensive clinical evaluations, coordinate diagnostic testing, implement ongoing treatment and provide genetic counseling where appropriate.

The diagnosis and treatment of children with neuromuscular diseases can be difficult and requires timely evaluations, expert diagnosis and testing. Our team is committed to providing the most current, comprehensive and specialized care possible. Recognized by Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Foundation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, members of the program perform clinical trials and basic research into the causes and treatments for neuromuscular disorders.
