Message from our SVP & CNO Paula Agosto RN, BSN, MHA

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) provides outstanding care through the blending of science and technology, along with advocacy and compassion.

CHOP nurses, respiratory therapists, child life specialists, technicians and administrative staff are committed to excellence in patient and family care. This commitment to excellence allows us to maintain our focus on high-quality, safe patient care, while advancing our education and research missions. Together, we embody the CHOP ICARE values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence. We promote leadership, strong partnerships with our colleagues, as well as our patients and families, and ongoing professional advancement for all members of the department.

Professional Advancement Program

The Professional Advancement Program recognizes that we practice on a continuum of proficiency from novice to expert depending on experience, complexity of the patient, and the environment in which we work. Consequently, the department established Professional Advancement programs focused on promoting professional development, engagement and recognition of clinicians. The PEAK (Professional Excellence & Advancing Knowledge) program is available for all eligible clinical nurses and respiratory therapists. There is also the Professional Advancement Model for Advanced Practice Providers.

Magnet® recognition

As a testament to CHOP’s clinical excellence and quality patient care, the hospital maintains its Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This honor exemplifies CHOP’s pursuit of the highest quality of care through transformational leadership and innovations in professional nursing practice.
