Spine disorders

Our internationally renowned pediatric spine disorders team successfully treats all types of spinal conditions. The spinal deformity program also continues to develop new and better techniques to correct spine deformity in children.

Sports medicine

Our sports medicine specialists are expert in the unique nature of injuries to children and adolescents. Our goal is to get young athletes back to their sports as soon as and as safely as possible, using conservative management or arthroscopic surgery if necessary.

Our Sports Medicine and Performance Center, located in King of Prussia, is the first program in the region to utilize an interdisciplinary approach to sports injuries and fitness issues.

Our expert, caring physicians and staff care for a large number of children with cerebral palsy. As the only cerebral palsy clinic in Philadelphia that offers interdisciplinary services, we work with a range of subspecialists to provide the care your child needs.

Musculoskeletal tumors (bone and soft tissue)

Our experts in the fields of orthopaedic surgery, pediatric oncology, musculoskeletal radiology and pathology treat both benign (noncancerous) and malignant (cancerous) bone and soft tissue tumors. As a tertiary children's cancer center, we are active in all areas of tumor treatment, including limb-sparing surgical techniques.

Musculoskeletal injuries

We evaluate and treat all musculoskeletal injuries of the limb and spine, including fractures and orthopedic trauma. Our orthopedic surgeons practice in the first Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in eastern Pennsylvania, here at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Foot and ankle disorders

We treat disorders and deformities of the foot and ankle as well as clubfoot, vertical talus, hallux valgus, fractures and other trauma. Although rarely serious, children also can be evaluated and followed for conditions such as bowlegs, knock-knees and pigeon toes.

Limb deficiency / amputations

Children with limb deficiency, including those with amputations, face a range of physical and psychosocial issues. We work with issues related to residual limb care, prosthetic fit, school and peer activities, sports participation and normal growth and development.
